Meet Dr. Whitaker
David H. Whitaker is a doctor of psychology (PsyD) and a licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (CMHC). He offers individual, couples, and family therapy for a variety of issues, including substance abuse, marital issues, depression, anxiety, intimacy problems, and more.
Prior to starting his private practice, Dr. Whitaker spent ten years as the Clinical Director at Wasatch Recovery, a residential substance abuse treatment center located in the Salt Lake Valley. At Wasatch, he created, developed, launched, and administered a highly successful drug treatment program, treating over 1200 clients during his ten years there.
Before joining Wasatch Recovery, Dr. Whitaker ran the substance abuse program at the Salt Lake County Jail and both the substance abuse and domestic violence programs at the Utah State Prison. He has also periodically worked for LDS Family Services over the last 26 years.
Dr. Whitaker received his doctorate in Psychology from the Illinois School of Professional Psychology and completed an internship at Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington, Vermont. His undergraduate work was done at the University of Utah, where he received bachelors degrees in psychology, sociology, and philosophy.
